Internationale richtlijnen voor omgang en verzorging van de kat

De International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM) en de American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) hebben gezamenlijk richtlijnen opgesteld om de zorg voor katten te verbeteren en stress te verminderen tijdens dierenartsbezoeken. Deze richtlijnen zijn gericht op het creëren van een katvriendelijke omgeving en het bevorderen van positieve interacties tussen katten, hun eigenaren en veterinaire professionals.

Deze richtlijnen geven goed onderbouwde informatie over allerlei zaken met betrekking tot verzorging en welzijn van katten. Zo zijn er richtlijnen over spanning tussen katten, maar ook over lange termijn gebruik van NSAIDs bij katten en management van de kat in de opname, die niet wil eten.
